Canada’s 67 Points Eligibility Criteria: Calculating Factors & More

Your plan to move to Canada has brought you here, and the number 67's connection to Canada is only a recent discovery for you.

So, now the question is:

What is the Canada 67 Points System?

To determine your profile’s eligibility, the Federal Skilled Worker Program (Express Entry) uses a 67-point-based system. If you didn’t know, Express Entry is one of Canada’s immigration systems that selects candidates for permanent residency. For this specific “67” Calculator, you would have to qualify for the six selection criteria, from which you must score 67 out of 100 points.

CRS or 67?

This confusion between the Comprehensive Ranking System and the 67-point-based system is ever so lively. Both are integral parts of the immigration process of Canada; let us understand the difference between the two.

To put it straight and simple: The CRS evaluates your profile’s eligibility so that it can be put into comparison with other candidates, whereas the 67-point-based system determines whether your application is even fit and eligible to enter the immigration pool. The 67-point-based system acts as the gatekeeper, and on the other hand, CRS decides your rank in the competition. In one, you only have to score at least 67 points out of 100 to be deemed eligible and start creating your Express Entry Profile. And in the other, there is no minimum score that you need to obtain out of 1200, as the cutoff changes with every draw they release.

The Six Factors of the 67 Point Based System

  • Language Proficiency: Under the Language Proficiency category, you can score a maximum of 28 points. You get up to 24 points for the first language that you are fluent in and 4 points for a second language if you know any.
